Mom Sees Moving Bumps On Kid's Scalp, Docs Diagnose Flesh-Eating Parasites

When you go abroad, you usually prepare for your trip by visiting the doctor’s office, where you need to get shots to protect yourself against various illnesses.

But there are some diseases one simply cannot prepare for — or even be aware of.

The signs and symptoms can be both confusing and horrifying. In the case of one mom, it was the lesions on her daughter’s scalp that left her worried.

She took her to the doctor, and professionals examined the 20 small, moving bumps on the girl’s scalp. One doctor even leaned in close and heard a chewing sound coming from the girl’s head.

It was truly a nightmare situation, and the doctors were stumped.

The situation was resolved when they discovered that the cause of the girl’s condition was a flesh-eating parasite.

The incident is explored in an episode of the new season of Monsters Inside Me on Animal Planet.

Of course, this can happen to anyone: the best way to prepare for an overseas trip, especially to a tropical locale, is to be informed.

Please SHARE if you want to warn friends traveling abroad that this can happen to them, too!
