Sharon Osbourne Explains Why She "Wouldn't Let" Ozzy Attend Grammy Ceremony

Ozzy Osbourne And Corey Taylor Special Announcement

Sharon Osbourne has explained why her husband Ozzy Osbourne didn't attend the "Grammy Salute to Music Legends" event this past spring along with his fellow Black Sabbath co-founders.

Black Sabbath was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the May 11 ceremony at Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre. Guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward (who has feuded with the band's management in recent years) were all there to accept the award in person.

While Ozzy has battled a myriad of health issues over the last nine months, Sharon revealed to Celebrity Access Encore that her husband's health was not a factor in why she "wouldn't let" Ozzy join his band mates.

"I was just so pissed off at the Grammys this year because they gave them a Lifetime Achievement Award but wouldn't give it to them on the TV show that we all know as the Grammy Awards," she said. "They did it at a separate ceremony, which goes out on another network [PBS] later on. I wouldn't let Ozzy go because I thought it was shocking what they did to them. So I wouldn't let Ozzy go... They wanted to give [the Lifetime Achievement Award] to them in some pissy f---ing ceremony that they had."

Sharon added that in the past Lifetime Achievement Awards have been given on the regular Grammys telecast. She emphasized that Black Sabbath is as relevant today as ever, and the band's last album, 13, released in 2013, performed much better worldwide than recent works by other Lifetime Achievement Award honorees.

"So the other artists they were honoring had great careers and deserved to be honored, but they still didn't have the careers that Sabbath had," she said. "So not to put them on the proper show, it was like, 'How dare you?' I was so angry. I just thought, 'F--k you. I am not going to give you the honor of having Ozzy at your sh---y ceremony."

Butler and Iommi each shared photos of their reunion will Ward to social media. Shortly after the Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony, Ozzy mentioned in an interview that he hoped to again perform with Ward. Iommi later said he agreed with the Ozzman.

Earlier this summer, Ward said he would be "open minded" about a future collaboration.
